Investments in Therapy
Therapy is an investment in yourself—a unique opportunity for growth and healing. Many people find it incredibly valuable, even those who initially think they don’t need it! We understand that the cost of therapy is an important consideration, especially if you don't have coverage through an extended healthcare provider.
You might be wondering why therapy costs what it does. The fees you pay cover much more than the time spent in the session. In addition to the extensive training required to become a therapist, there are operational costs like rent and utilities, as well as professional expenses such as ongoing supervision, additional training, liability insurance, and licensing fees. Furthermore, counsellors spend time preparing sessions, doing research, and writing notes to support the individualized services that they provide. While the upfront cost may seem high, therapy offers invaluable, personalized support that is tailored to meet your individual needs.
General Financial Information
Before booking, it's a good idea to check your extended health plan to see what coverage you have for counselling services. Confirm that your plan includes sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC).
Please note, RCCs are not currently recognized as medical practitioners under the Income Tax Act, so therapy sessions cannot be claimed as medical expenses on your income tax return. The classification of RCCs is under review, and this could change in the future. For the most up-to-date information, please check the Canada Revenue Agency’s list of authorized medical practitioners.
